Moving into my mid 20s, I’m adoring the Marks and Spencers style section more and more. I’ve always been mature, minimalist and to the general eye, probably a little boring. BUT. I do have expectations, and I’m usually filled with optimism when it comes to fashion collabs.

When the news of a limited edition party collection between M&S and the drop-dead gorgeous Model turned Actress, Sienna Miller was announced - I was elated at the thought of the collaboration.

Could it BE much better than the already adorable Autumn Winter Collection from M&S?! Let’s find out…

General Notes:

The colour scheme is a little bit - meh.

I think there was room for improvement with the colour scheme. Opportunities for wine, oxblood, orange, navy and more. The dark greens and pinks are a little off-putting yet autumnal in their own kind of way.

It’s not overly festive.

Okay so it isn’t very suggestive that IS a festive collection, but ‘partywear’ at the end of October may offer the interpretation that it's going to be a complete sequin-fest. Some may see the muted tones as a plus because it means they can wear their pieces all year round, but because of the time of year the launch took place, I’m underwhelmed with the lack of sparkle, festive textures. I believe it could've been the perfect opportunity for Sienna to launch an amazing Christmas Collection.

It’s affordable. For some.

This collection isn’t overly pricey. It isn’t surprising that a leather clutch bag is priced at £79 and I would expect no less from Marks and Spencers. I believe M&S know and very much cater to their own target audience, and with that I don’t think they would gasp out loud at the price points. On the other hand, some may not feel that a ribbed top with a splash of embellishment is worth £59 - considering it can only be hand washed.

Overall, I was a little disappointed with this collection. That’s not to say that hundreds and thousands of others won’t be delighted to deck themselves out in the latest drop from Sienna Miller and it’s clear it has its own target audience. In my humble opinion, there was room for improvement and a little bit of missed opportunity given the time of year. Maybe, just maybe - that audience isn’t supposed to be me.
